Happy Birthday to me!
It's my 63rd today and I feel it this year. Two Optometrists have told me about the growing cataract in my dominate right eye. I had guessed that was the problem before they confirmed it because, in spite of their statements that it would be 5 to 10 years before it would require intervention, it is already interfering with my vision. That's why I made appointments to see the eye doctors in the first place. Next year I'll see an Ophthalmologist.
My hearing has been bad for years. My audiologist told me I had the hearing of a 70 year old man, when I was 50. It must be equivalent to an 85 year old's by now. I struggle to use a telephone, I can't hear well enough. I have very expensive hearing aids but I don't wear them now that I am retired and alone. I know there are newer ones available that may improve my situation but they are expensive and not covered by insurance. I spend 99 % of my time by myself so they are unnecessary day to day. I listen to the TV and music with headphones but I find myself looking for new ones that have more volume.
I've had an upper respiratory infection for the last 4 or 5 days. It's been very mild and I had hopes that it would stay mild as it ran it's course. No such luck. I woke early this morning stuffed up, coughing, sneezing and aching.
To sum up, I can't see very well, hear very well, and I have a bad cold.
I am still overweight and introverted.
I'm alive but unfortunately still alone.
Now I'm 63.
Happy Birthday to me!
