"Reds"
Tomorrow I have to return to work for the rest of July and the month of August. My 2 week summer vacation is coming to a close. The first 5 days I spent doing projects around TrippingOverMoose Ranch. From the 15th through the 22 I drove the motor home to Sterling and fished for Reds in the Kenai River.
(note: For anyone who reads this and is not familiar with Alaska, "Reds" are Sockeye or Red Salmon.)
Fishing and timing were good and I probably put enough fish in the freezer to see me through the winter. But since my daughter and her family are staying with me I'll most likely need more. We'll hit the Silver Salmon run hard when it starts.
September is hunting season, 2 weeks in the back country chasing moose.

Gettin' Close
I took a mini-vacation over Easter and spent almost all of it on the living room project. It's done! I bought the flat screen TV last night. I'll be hanging it on the wall tonight and buying shelves for the rest of the wall. Also I'm ordering custom blinds for the windows. I'm still working on lighting ideas and also looking for a rug, other than those items the room is done. I'll post pictures this weekend.
Now back to my previous project, the motorhome. I took it out of the garage this weekend, because the garage needs a major spring cleaning. I'll probably leave it in the driveway unless by doing so, I jinx us and we get a late season dump of snow. (You'll notice I'm not talking about the weather!)

Happy New Year
I've been on vacation since December 21st. I carefully saved just enough vacation hours to cover the work days of Christmas week and I thought for today. But a last minute count showed me 2 hours short. I was going to drop by this afternoon for 2 hours but it turns out my girlfriend Kate was short a whole day. So we are working today and then back to holiday and vacation until January 7, 2008. There is only 1 other person at work today on my floor. He's probably being as productive as I am. Tonight we'll probably celebrate New Years by making a nice dinner and watching a DVD. I try to stay off the roads on what are traditionally, Drinking Holidays.
