Painting

After a hiatus of around 35 years, I have started painting again. Apparently, all of those years as a corporate artist/cartographer/drafter fulfilled my artistic urges. Watching a few Bob Ross, "Joy of Painting" episodes reignited the long smoldering flame.

I have a long way too go, I was never even a mediocre painter 3+ decades ago but perhaps, with time, I will achieve at least that level in my dotage.

I have attempted over thirty paintings in the last six weeks.  Here are a few of them that I like.

60th

Kate would be 60 today.
I decided to stop posting, both here and on Facebook, to mark her birthday and the day she died.
Life, such as it is, goes on. This is my last post about Kate.
I'm pretty sure no one reads this blog anyway.

Mother

My mother passed away earlier this week surrounded by all six of her children and other family members. This is a picture of her with her great-great-granddaughter.
She was the gentlest lady I've ever known.
We all will miss her terribly.

Shadow and the Hungry Moose

This hungry young cow moose has been hanging out in the yard the last few days. Last night she ambled past the kitchen and started eating shoots off the trees behind the house. I was taking pictures of her when Shadow brushed past me and out his dog door in to his dog run. The first picture is the moose's reaction. Very quickly she recognized Shadow wasn't a threat and went back eating more or less unconcerned. She did keep and eye on him and he watched her for a little bit before doing his business and going back inside.
